【摘要】:Thispracticecoversaprotocolforevaluatingthecompatibilityofoneorthreebinarymixturesoflubricatinggreasesbycomparingtheirpropertiesorperformancerelativetothoseoftheneatgreasescomprisingthemixture.Threepropertiesareevaluatedinaprimarytestingprotocolusingstandardtestmethods:(1)droppingpointbyTestMethodD566(orTestMethodD2265);(2)shearstabilitybyTestMethodsD217,100000-strokeworkedpenetration;and(3)storagestabilityatelevated-temperaturebychangein60-strokepenetration(TestMethodD217).Forcompatiblemixtures(thosepassingallprimarytesting),asecondary(nonmandatory)testingschemeissuggestedwhencircumstancesindicatetheneedforadditionaltesting.Sequentialorconcurrenttestingiscontinueduntilthefirstfailure.Ifanymixturefailsanyoftheprimarytests,thegreasesareincompatible.Ifallmixturespassthethreeprimarytests,thegreasesareconsideredcompatible.Thispracticeappliesonlytolubricatinggreaseshavingcharacteristicssuitableforevaluationbythesuggestedtestmethods.Ifthescopeofaspecifictestmethodlimitstestingtothosegreaseswithinaspecifiedrangeofproperties,greasesoutsidethatrangecannotbetestedforcompatibilitybythattestmethod.Anexceptiontothiswouldbewhenthetestedpropertyoftheneat,constituentgreasesiswithinthespecifiedrange,butthetestedpropertyofamixtureisoutsidetherangebecauseofincompatibility.Thispracticedoesnotpurporttocoveralltestmethodsthatcouldbeemployed.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
